Bali Turtle Traders

The turtles are bought by the villagers from traveling fishermen. They sail their ships to the islands of Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara and even to Irian Jaya to look for the turtles. The Balinese eating habits are severely threatening the turtles, especially the green turtle. Around the tiny island of Serangan, about 12 kilometers from Bali, the green turtle has vanished. Here a turtle is held for inspection.
