In this competition the chicken are judged upon appearance and their cockle doodle. It is a tough sport and considered to be more humane than cockfighting, another popular pastime in Indonesia. Owners baby their chickens so they have the best cockle doodle doo. Judges line up to inspect the chickens during competition. The chickens cost upwards between $50 and $100 US which for Indonesians can sometimes be up to a few months wages.
