On the Panama Canal work is at a steady pace to complete the expansion of EL CANAL. A third set of locks are being built in expectation that more then a third of all maritime shipping will be with Post Panamax ships able to hold more then double the present Panamax ships. The project at a cost of more then 5 billion dollars should be completed by 2014. Most work being done at the moment is in the area of CAP 2 it is near Cerro Goya and just east of Cerro Paraiso. Scientists from the Smithsonian are studying the area looking for fossils and MECO a company from Costa Rica unearthed a series of rail cars from the original project in 1914.
